Family Sponsor

ABOUT FAMILY SPONSOR

As a country oriented to fostering family unity and reunification, Canada has a variety of immigration programs that enable citizens and Canadian permanent residents to sponsor family members for permanent residency.
Who am I able to sponsor? Whether your spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner is living in Canada on a valid temporary visa or is living overseas, you may be able to sponsor them for permanent residency in Canada. Through the parent and grandparent sponsorship program, Canada demonstrates its commitment to fostering family reunification with parents and grandparents of citizens and permanent residents of the country. Through the child sponsorship program, citizens and permanent residents of Canada may apply for permanent residency on behalf of their biological or adopted children under the age of 22. In some cases, citizens or Permanent Residents may be able to sponsor the immigration of their orphaned sibling, sister, nephew, niece, or grandchild.
